In Short
Campus fit-outs run to the academic calendar, not the contractor's. Impulse Branding Solutions delivers NBC and BIS-compliant classroom, laboratory and administrative block work for schools, colleges and training institutes across India, and mobilises to finish inside the six to ten week vacation window rather than running on into term time.
Most school and college fit-out projects run on a construction calendar, not an academic one. The contractor treats the vacation window like any other deadline, and the work spills into the first weeks of term with classrooms still under dust sheets and a headmaster fielding parent calls. Impulse Branding Solutions plans backward from the reopening date instead of forward from a generic site-handover date, sequencing procurement, civil work, and signage fabrication so a six to ten week vacation window is the schedule, not a best-case estimate. Lab fit-outs are designed against the specific standard the room has to pass: fume hoods and exhaust ventilation for a chemistry block, anti-static flooring and UPS power for a computer lab, three-phase power and epoxy flooring for an ITI workshop, not one classroom specification stretched across every room type. Campus signage and wayfinding are manufactured at IBS's own facility and installed in the same sequence as the civil handover, not coordinated through a separate vendor after the interior is done.

What We Make
India had 53,461 colleges and 1,409 universities in FY26, against 42,343 colleges in FY20 and 760 universities in FY15 (IBEF, 2026). Campus building at that rate is rarely a clean site. It is a new block, a laboratory upgrade, or a library conversion fitted around a running academic calendar. Education fit-out work spans several delivery formats, each with its own specialist infrastructure and compliance layer. Below is what each format covers.
General Contracting · Type 01
Core classroom fit-outs covering flooring, false ceiling, lighting, electrical, and data points, built for sustained daily student use rather than an office-grade specification.

General Contracting · Type 02
Lab environments carry specialist infrastructure a standard classroom does not: chemical safety systems for a science lab, stable power and anti-static flooring for a computer lab.

General Contracting · Type 03
Vocational training centres and Industrial Training Institutes need heavy-duty workshop infrastructure built to pass NCVT and AICTE inspection, not a classroom finished to a lower standard.

General Contracting · Type 04
Assembly halls combine tiered seating, acoustic treatment, and stage infrastructure with the same fire egress and emergency lighting standard applied to every other room on campus.

General Contracting · Type 05
Campus signage is manufactured at IBS's own Mumbai facility rather than sourced through a separate vendor, so directional signage, department identification, and safety signage are installed to the same schedule as the interior fit-out.

General Contracting · Type 06
Reception areas, faculty offices, and administrative work areas are fitted out to the same standard as the rest of the campus, usually under the same contract as the classroom and lab scope.

General Contracting · Type 07
Library interiors combine shelving, reading areas, and quiet-study acoustic treatment with the durability a shared, high-traffic resource space needs.

General Contracting · Type 08
Indoor sports halls and gymnasiums need surfaces and fixtures rated for high-impact activity, not a repurposed multipurpose room.

Specification
Education fit-out work carries a stricter compliance layer than standard commercial fit-out. Institutional occupancy classification under the National Building Code, RPwD Act accessibility requirements, and BIS material standards all apply on top of the baseline every IBS project follows.

How We Deliver
A standard classroom or administrative block fit-out is scheduled to finish inside the six to ten week vacation window a school or college allows for construction. Multi-storey academic blocks and full-campus programmes are scoped as phased, floor-by-floor projects. The steps below apply to every education engagement.
An initial scoping call captures institution type, building scope, and the exact vacation-window dates available for construction. Where a board or university affiliation carries specific infrastructure requirements, they are reviewed at this stage so the drawing accounts for them from the start.
Design and drawings are developed against NBC Part 4 fire safety requirements for institutional occupancy, BIS structural standards, and RPwD Act accessibility provisions, with lab and workshop rooms drawn to their specific service requirement.
Civil and MEP materials are procured against the approved drawing and BOQ. In parallel, campus signage, wayfinding, and brand graphics are fabricated at IBS's Mumbai facility to the approved specification.
Site works, flooring, false ceiling, electrical, plumbing, and specialist lab or workshop infrastructure, fume hoods, anti-static flooring, three-phase power, proceed against the vacation-window schedule, sequenced to the institution's access and work-hour restrictions.
Fabricated department identification, wayfinding, and safety signage are installed as the interior fit-out nears completion, planned to the same sequence as the civil and MEP handover rather than scheduled as an afterthought.
Electrical systems are tested and certified. Every space is inspected for snags and cleared before handover, with as-built drawings, fire NOC documentation, and test certificates provided as part of the handover packet.
IBS confirms every space is ready for the institution's reopening date. Multi-storey or full-campus programmes are handed over floor by floor as each phase completes, so the institution regains use of finished areas without waiting for the entire project to close out.
Why Buyers Choose IBS
Institutions evaluating an education fit-out contractor are usually weighing two things at once: will the work finish before students return, and will the finished space pass the safety and accessibility standard an academic building is held to. These are the points that address both.
Most contractors treat a school's six to ten week vacation window as a target to aim for. IBS builds the fabrication and site schedule backward from the reopening date, sequencing procurement, civil work, and signage fabrication so the vacation window is the plan, not a best-case estimate.
A science lab, a computer lab, and an ITI workshop each need different services: fume hoods and exhaust for one, anti-static flooring and UPS power for another, three-phase power and epoxy flooring for the third. IBS designs each room against the standard it has to pass, including NCVT and AICTE inspection for vocational workshops, rather than applying one classroom specification everywhere.
Department identification, wayfinding, and safety signage are manufactured at IBS's own Mumbai facility and installed as part of the same project scope as the civil and MEP fit-out, rather than coordinated as a separate signage contract after the interior is complete.
A multi-storey academic block fit-out is scheduled floor by floor so the institution continues operating in completed areas while work proceeds elsewhere, rather than taking the entire building out of use for the length of the project.
Institutional occupancy carries stricter fire compartmentation than standard commercial space. RPwD Act accessibility provisions, ramp access, accessible toilets, tactile flooring, and Braille signage, are designed into the drawing rather than retrofitted after a compliance review flags a gap.

Most education fit-out problems trace back to a contractor whose usual project is a commercial office or retail store, scoped the same way for a school. The gaps show up in the same few places on every campus project.
| Typical Multi-Vendor Approach | IBS Integrated Approach | |
|---|---|---|
| Working within the academic calendar | Scheduled like a standard commercial project; work often spills into the first weeks of term | Fabrication and site schedule built backward from the reopening date, sequenced to finish inside the six to ten week vacation window |
| Lab and specialist room infrastructure | One classroom-grade specification applied to science labs, computer labs, and workshops alike | Each room built to its own service requirement: fume hoods for a chemistry lab, anti-static flooring and UPS power for a computer lab, three-phase power for an ITI workshop |
| Campus signage and wayfinding | Sourced through a separate signage vendor after the interior fit-out is complete | Manufactured at IBS's own Mumbai facility and installed in the same project sequence as the civil and MEP fit-out |
| Compliance for institutional occupancy | Fire and structural compliance assessed against standard commercial occupancy norms | Designed against the stricter fire compartmentation NBC applies to institutional occupancy, with RPwD Act accessibility built in from the drawing stage |
| Multi-storey academic block delivery | Whole building taken out of use for the length of the project | Delivered floor by floor, so completed areas return to use while work continues elsewhere |
| Vendor count | Separate contractors for civil, MEP, signage, and furniture, coordinated by the institution itself | Civil, MEP, lab fit-out, furniture, and signage delivered under one contract with one project manager |

Education fit-out projects are quoted against a locked scope and BOQ, the same way every IBS project is. There is no meaningful per-square-foot answer without a site survey, because the vacation-window schedule, lab and workshop infrastructure, and affiliation-related requirements vary by institution. Specific pricing and stage-wise payment terms are agreed in the proposal and contract, not published here.
The commercial relationship is anchored on the approved drawing and BOQ. Every scope line, material brand, and quantity is itemised, including lab and workshop infrastructure and campus signage fabrication. Scope changes during execution are tracked through a written change-order log, with cost and timeline impact noted before approval.
IBS invoices for education fit-out work attract GST at the applicable rate per the prevailing GST Council notification. GST is shown on a separate line in every invoice, with tax certificates issued.
IBS provides written warranty on every executed scope, scaled by discipline. Warranty cards and test certificates form part of the handover packet for every project.
| Discipline | Term |
|---|---|
| Civil & structural works | twelve months from handover for workmanship-related defects |
| MEP installation | twelve months on installation, with manufacturer warranty pass-through on equipment |
| Lab & workshop infrastructure | twelve months on fixed fabrication such as workbenches, fume hood housings, and service counters; equipment such as UPS units carries manufacturer warranty, typically one to two years |
| Campus signage & wayfinding | minimum twelve months on signage fabrication and mounting hardware; illuminated sign components carry manufacturer warranty, typically two to three years |
An initial scoping call is free of charge and free of obligation. A physical site visit is scheduled once building scope, vacation-window dates, and approximate area are confirmed. For operating campuses, IBS coordinates the visit around the institution's own access and security requirements; it is not billed as a separate scope.
